“Full” of a Took: discover Middle-earth’s Tuckborough
One of my favorite moments in the Lord of the Rings series is when Gandalf scolds Pippin. “Fool of a Took!” the wizard would say. Well you can’t blame the hobbit for being himself – especially if you know where he’s coming from. In LOTRO: Shadows of Angmar, you just might be able to find the Took-family of hobbits in their most comfy nature – their home.
Tuckborough is located in the Tookland area of Westfarthing (you can go through Stock to get there) and its inhabitants, as the name suggests, come from the Took-clan: may they be cousins, relatives, close friends, or whatnot. But whether you’ve got bloodlines linking you to them or not, you’d still be welcomed whole-heartedly.
Aside from the road through Stock, there aren’t much other path that will lead you to Tuckborough, so for those who are thinking about traveling to this hobbit-village, you must be prepared for quite a cross-country hike: steep hills, valleys, raging streams, and all. Your destination will reward you though, because it is in Tuckborough where the Great Smials are located. It’s the immense underground network of dwellings which have been continuously excavated (even up to today) for nearly 400 years now…
