No Black Xbox 360… But look, a black HD-DVD!
Basically another off-topic item, just to wind the week down, as we find stuff popping up in the fields like mushrooms. The BlaXbox 360 rumors still circulate, under the surface, like little ripples here and there – like another sighting of a black Xbox 360 at a Taiwanese game show as reported by one site, thinking that they were looking at evidence of a change of skin for Microsoft.
GWN decided to nip this story in the bud, though, claiming that if people looked carefully at those BlaXboxes, they’ll find “Reviewer’s Kit” stickered at the back. More evidence: manufactured in 2005 (picture from GWN).
Well, that scratches that appearance, not to mention shoots down whatever hopes are out there for a BlaXbox 360. That leaves Xtreme Enterprise‘s Xenon360 solution as the best way to show that once you go black…
But wait: our little story on the Xbox 360 doesn’t end there. Microsoft employee and blogger Andy Pennel writes of receiving a black present this Valentine’s season. He and the team he’s part of have black HD-DVD add-ons. Black really is back… if you work for Microsoft or review 360 games, it seems.
Best chance of us seeing one on sale? Andy says if some employee puts one up on eBay. What’s the bet that it’ll be gone in 60 seconds, especially since it looks like this (picture from Andy’s blog):
Hmm… Xtreme Enterprise: can you guys whip up a XenonHD-DVD?
