Japan game hardware sales as of February 25
Cheesemeister at the NeoGAF Forums highlights the Japan game hardware sales for the week February 19 to 25. The data, coming from Japanese game market analyzers Media Create, reports the following console and handheld sales totals for the week ending February 25:
- DS: 136,260
- PSP: 100,210
- Wii: 78,506
- PS3: 19,315
- 360: 4,183
There’s been a notable decline for the Wii in rank, after holding a number two spot the week before. That’s because the PSP sales jumped a whopping 65,000 units up in just a week. The sales of the Wii did climb a notable 15,000 units, but wasn’t enough to stomp a triple-fold growth of the Playstation handheld.
The stylish DS and the innovative Wii still hold the upper hand in Japan, while the Playstation 3 leads the Xbox 360 in a four-fold fashion. The PSP has, by far, the most phenomenal sales of the week – mostly because of the popularity and high demand for Capcom‘s Monster Hunter Portable 2nd, which holds a weekly total of 705,281 units sold.
