Halo Wars: Behold the UNSC Sparrowhawk
In the same Official Halo Wars forum that reported some Microsoft Games Studios bigwigs getting together for a pow-wow with the coming console RTS, there was a “scrambled” image of a unit from the Ensemble Studios game. Well, it seems that Ensemble finally “descrambled” the image as of yesterday (according to RTSCommunity.com), to unveil this beauty to grace the skies of Halo Wars.
Ladies, gentlemen, and n00bs who still keep calling themselves “Maverick,” presenting the UNSC Sparrowhawk.
Ensemble (or MGS, or Bungie) did not unveil any new details about the Sparrowhawk, but it obviously is one of the UNSC’s airpower vehicles. We can only speculate, but it seems to specialize in close air support (CAS) or gunship roles, delivering withering firepower to Covenant lines engaging Marines on the ground. The missile packs mounted beneath the wings and beside each (what looks like) gun pod could either be defensive air-to-air missiles for Covenant aircraft, or more likely air-to-ground in an anti-armor role.
They would obviously differ from the UNSC Shortsword, which seems to have been shoehorned into the tactical attack/bomber role for Halo Wars, according to the thread dedicated to it in the Halo Wars forum. (Again, all this info is all speculation, but then, you are talking to an original Comanche-spammer in Command & Conquer: Generals…)
