Unmoddable Wiis sighted in Canada

Unmoddable Wii consoles have reportedly been sighted in Canada. These Wiis are similar to the unmoddable NTSC-Js that we reported about last month. Both have the legs cut off from the surface-mounted IC.

The unmoddable Wii was apparently bought in Kingsway Zellers, Edmonton, Alberta on June 3. If you bought a Wii in that area and around that time and you plan on having it modded, you might want to see if its IC also has the 3-pins removed.

Wii modders have also reportedly confirmed that Wii consoles with serial numbers starting with 51545 and higher all carry the cut chip. Consoles with serial numbers starting with 51525 and lower are reportedly moddable.
