Hasbro And Activision To Bring Us Transformers
I remember I used to think the lyrics to the theme song were “Robots in the skies!” Some potentially cool news about a promising Transformers movie project, currently under the direction of one Mr. Michael “blow ’em up good” Bay. It seems Hasbro, the company behind the Transformers toyline has granted Activision global licensing rights (excluding Japan apparently) to produce games based on the Transformers brand, the first of which will tie into the new movie. Mildly interesting snippets from the press release include:
“‘Transformers’ has all of the elements necessary to translate incredibly well into video games,” said Mike Griffith, president and CEO, Activision Publishing, Inc. “We look forward to bringing the ‘Transformers’ robots to life with the latest interactive technology and graphics.”
The rest of the release goes on to mention that we can expect to see games released on consoles, handhelds and PC with no specific mention of next gen iterations but c’mon, surely they must know that kicking butt as Optimus Prime in 720p is every fans dream?
