Sony to make major PS3 and PSP announcements at Leipzig
Sony fans should be tuning into the Leipzig Games Convention as the electronics and gaming giant is planning to make the Leipzig event their main platform for making big announcements for the PlayStation 3 and PSP.
One of the expected announcements is a TV tuner for the PS3 that will enable the console to record digital-quality TV. Sony is also expected to formally announce a video download service for the PSP (just in time, according to Jack Tretton). Other new features expected to be introduced to the public at Leipzig are the video chat and messaging systems for the PSP.
Attempts to beef up Sony’s PS3 and PSP are being made in an effort to draw both gaming and non-gaming crowds alike, and Leipzig is looking to be an important venue to make such announcements. Josef Rahmen, managing director of the Leipziger Messe, tells us why. “This year we are expecting over 9,000 trade visitors and some 2,800 journalists from over 35 countries,” he said. Definitely some important numbers you want to impress, if you were a big electronics and gaming giant.
