Flagship Studios discusses future content of Hellgate: London
Bill Roper, CEO of Flagship Studios, recently talked about the future of Flagship Studios’ apocalyptic MMORPG, Hellgate: London. Aside from keeping the game interesting, Mr. Roper mentioned that the changes were simply Flagship Studios’ way of responding to the feedback and the criticism they’ve received from Hellgate: London players.
Mr. Roper mentioned a variety of new content that players would be encountering in the near future: a new hub (Stonehenge), potentially new character classes, All Hallows’ Eve and Guy Fawkes Night-themed content and possible plans for retail expansion.
While all these tweaks are important in themselves, Roper admitted that the bigger priority is keeping both subscribing and non-subscribing players happy. Flagship Studios hopes to achieve this delicate balance by making the broader game-wide features available to both parties (e.g. free-for-all PvP, auction houses, in-game mail, etc.) while giving subscribers a greater level of control over these. For instance, all Hellgate: London players may join guilds, but only subscribers may establish guilds of their own.
While any Hellgate: London beta player will tell you that the game is far from perfect, it’s partly because the game is still a work in progress. The important thing is that, for the most part, Flagship Studios appears to be willing to learn from their mistakes and to correct them.
