Ever since the split between Microsoft and Bungie Studios, gamers have been asking what’s next for the creators of Halo 3.
In a recent interview with website Develop, Bungie Studio Manager Harold Ryan mentioned that they are currently working on a new IP, downloadable content for Halo 3, and even more Halo games.
While he didn’t give away too much information about the new IP, he did point out that they’ve had the non-Halo IPs in development for some time now. Apparently, they started working on two projects before which were pre-maturely terminated by the production of both Halo and Halo 2.
However, when Halo 3 came out, they decided that they shouldn’t let the project they were working on be placed on the back burner. What they did was kept the working prototype of the game and in fact, they are currently working on it now.
He said that they’ve already assigned a creative team which has been working on the new IP. In addition to this, Ryan also said that Bungie Studios has been working on more Halo 3 downloadable content and other Halo games.
Once again, Ryan was a bit elusive with giving out details but he did mention that both are shaping up pretty well. It looks like we’re going to have to wait a bit longer before Bungie decides to let the cat out of the proverbial bag.
All in all, it looks as if Bungie’s move to become an independent company has left the company re-invigorated. Ryan put it best when he said “So the end result so far has been exactly as it should have been – we’re happy, excited, and doing our best work on a path that lets us grow”.
