Recently, Blizzard blue poster Xordiah hosted the map-making segment of the Blizzard StarCraft II Q & A Batch 22 series. This time around, Blizzard developers Dustin Browder and Brett Wood took the time to answer questions from the Blizzard map-making community.
In response to some players’ questions, Browder and Wood said that players can mix and match map textures and terrain tilesets in StarCraft II. The maximum map size at 256 x 256, and according to Browder and Wood, Blizzard has no plans of increasing it further. Nifty, but perhaps the juiciest bit of info from Blizzard is this: the StarCraft II map editor has a built-in function that allows heroes and units to gain experience a la Warcraft: Defense of the Ancients.
Xordiah has also invited StarCraft II fans to direct their questions at Browder and Wood, so if you have a question regarding maps or mods in StarCraft II, follow the source link to the thread and drop Blizzard a line. Xordiah will include your queries in a future update of the StarCraft II Q&A series.
