Video game developer and publisher Koei has announced that it will be restructuring in order to better cater to the different needs of the public. The company will now be split into two divisions, with one focusing on the Western market and the other on the Asian market.
As expected, a lot of internal promotion was involved with the company’s decision. Naoki Katashima, the recently appointed executive vice president for Koei UK, Koei France, and Koei North America, spoke about this move by the company:
This new mid-term plan is a very significant development for Koei. The plan demonstrates our renewed commitment to our western businesses and the importance with which Koei views the markets outside of Japan.
This plan establishes an entirely new division that unifies all of KoeiÂ’s western territories, and represents a substantial part of the company overall. Now more than ever, Koei’s development studios, and sales and marketing teams around the world are working more closely together to develop remarkable entertainment experiences for videogamers across the globe.
While it still remains to be seen if this move by Koei will be beneficial in the long run, the company seems to be making a good move considering the state of the video game industry at this time.
