Raising the white flag: HD DVD Promotion Group dissolved
This is perhaps the final piece of news we’ll hear from the format wars. Confirmation that it’s really over can’t get any more official than this: the HD DVD Promotion Group has officially dissolved. More details after the “read more” link below.
This piece of news doesn’t come as a shocker as everyone’s been expecting it for a while now, but it’s one thing to expect something to happen, and quite another to see it happen.
This is the latest, and most likely the last we’ll hear from the format war: the HD DVD Promotion Group has officially dissolved, little more than a month after Toshiba withdrew its support.
Their website now only contains a short and sharp message announcing the group’s dissolution, and a few links that direct us to other groups for HD DVD products.
Here we close the final chapter to the format war. Already we’re seeing the effects on the console wars, with Blu-ray leading the charge and the PlayStation 3 gaining momentum. We’ll probably see more of its effects in the future. Check back for updates.
