Ubisoft on new Prince of Persia: DS version not a port, Wii version being 'seriously' looked at - Image 1You guys might be curious to know what Ubisoft is planning for the new Prince of Persia (PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, DS). We’ve got an update on the developments surrounding the game.

We got hold of information that the game might be released for the Wii and that the DS version is going to present something new to the scene.

In the latest issue of Edge UK, a portion on it was transcribed to English. It was Ubisoft talking about the new Prince of Persia. It was mentioned that the DS version is “connected to the game in a very interesting way, but it’s not a port.” It seems that it’s going to be serving a complimentary experience from the gaming franchise.

What’s really interesting about the snippet was how Ubisoft treated Prince of Persia: Two Thrones when they released it for the Wii. It was said that:

We ported Two Thrones to the Wii. It was a quick and dirty port, I can say. With that we saw a lot of potential. The controls were not fully optimised, did not take full advantage of the Wii, but a lot of people saw the POP universe could certainly have a home on Wii.

Since then people have been looking into that, but thereÂ’s no formal announcement. We are investigating it very seriously. You would never see a port of the game weÂ’re making however. ThatÂ’ll never, never happen.

Yes, you read it right. The company is looking at the possibility of a Wii title in the works. This is certainly an interesting turn of events for the game and the company. We’ll hook you guys up with the latest developments on this matter.
