Here’s a big update for the guys who’ve been closely following Japan‘s currently running Macross Frontier TV series. We have received some new information regarding the anime’s PSP game port, specifically regarding its replay and screenshot features, ad-hoc battle mode and some of the characters and mecha that are expected to be available.

Replay mode

Macross Ace Frontier‘s replay mode will enable you to play back any missions you’ve accomplished from start to end.You will be able to pick your own camera angles and zoom levels, and to even view the battle from your opponent’s perspective.

The replay mode will also be compatible with the ad-hoc battle mode, enabling you to review how you won, or lost.  There’s also a screenshot capture function that will allow to use some of your hot-dogging as in-game wallpaper. No word if you can use them for your XMB, though that would certainly be a most welcome function.

Macross Ace Frontier‘s multiplayer bouts will feature an ID System, where your nickname, pilot status and level, mission completion percentage, item completion percentage, and play time are displayed. You can also opt to customize your ID with icons and patches that are earned as you rank up, and even add a self-introduction piece. Your game ID is exchanged with other players when you enter a match.

According to IGN, the game will carry a total of 30 different characters representing the various timelines and series within the Macross universe. At the moment, Vrlitwhai Kridanki (Macross), Guld Goa Bowman (Macross Plus), Mylene Flare Jenius (Macross 7), Gigile (Macross 7), and Luca Angelloni (Macross Frontier), have been confirmed.

Other possible playable pilots we’ve spotted in a previous magazine scan include Alto Saotome (Macross Frontier), Michael Blanc (Macross Frontier), Maximilian Jenius (Macross), and Basara Nekki (Macross 7).
