GameMusicGear MX Release Candidate 2.0 – bugfixes, optimizations
silmarilion has released GameMusicGear MX Release Candidate 2.0 and it’s got more bugfixes and optimizations. But some of the tweaks would be the added support for 48 khz songs and a visualizer selector in full screen mode. Do check out what’s in the full list after the jump.

GameMusicGear MX Release Candidate has got a new version from silmarilion, now placing it up a notch to version 2.0. For beginners out there, this is a homebrew application which is a multiformat music player based on some popular PC players such as Winamp and XMMS, as well as gp32‘s oldplay.
This release here focuses mainly on bugfixes and optimizations, and as usual, comments or ideas are encouraged. He’s also added in sakya‘s 3xx kernel exception handler in here. When an exception occurs a file called ‘exception.log’ will be created, so the developer is asking people out there who’ll encounter the crash to please send him the file with a brief description of it.
For this version, there are a number of changes:
- + add support for 48 khz songs.
- + add new default ‘greymax’ skin made by maxo.
- + add display of album art found in song’s folder (AlbumArtSmall.jpg, Folder.jpg, …).
- + add visualizer selector in fullscreen mode.
- + add display of play time and song info in fullscreen mode.
- + add support for 32 bit BMP graphics.
- + add support for psp internal font format through intraFont by BenHur.
- + add in_cube input plugin.
- + add in_uade input plugin.
- + add in_sc68 input plugin.
- + add new vis_blast visual plugin.
- + add new vis_lyrics visual plugin.
- + add display of main volume graphics.
- * fix rar (and rsn) files are handled correctly now.
* fix memory bug when playing compressed files.
silmarilion says he’s currently working on a c64 sid, wma and ym plugins, so there’s definitely something to look forward to in the upcoming version. The next version will also be including the realtime equalizer engine. Sweetness, eh?
