Japan’s first half: PSP reigns king of hardware, Mario Kart tops software
Enterbrain of Japan has finished tallying their results for the total hardware and software sales for the period of March 31 to September 28. This time period marks the first half of 2008’s fiscal year in Japan.
So who’s on top? If you’re asking hardware, that’d be the PSP. Over one and a half million units sold, man! Meanwhile, on the software side of things, it’s a different story.

- DS: 1,314,919 units
- Wii: 1,105,174 units
- PS3: 352,457 units
- 360: 138,740 units
Oh yes, the PSP reigns king of the hill. Over one and a half million units in six months’ time? Man, that’s deep. And to think these are numbers from Japan alone!
Meanwhile, on the software side of things, it’s a different story. Nintendo dominates the charts with games for the Wii and DS, with Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G managing to grind its way to second place though.
