Monster Hunter G sells 92,000 copies at Day 1 in Japan
It’s a pretty well-known fact that the Japanese are crazy about Monster Hunter, in fact, the franchise has sold millions of games in Japan alone. Now another title joins the mix to add to that immense number. This time it’s a port of the old PS2 Monster Hunter G to the Nintendo Wii, and it lives up to its family’s elite reputation, selling 92,000 copies at Day 1. Capcom must be clicking its heels in delight.

While it’s certainly not the best that a game has done on Day 1, you gotta consider that Monster Hunter G is a port, and people probably still have their old copies in good working order. Enterbrain reports that the Wii port sold 27,000 stand-alone units, combined with the 65,000 sold with the Starts Pack that came with the special classic controller.
If this port did this well, imagine the numbers when Monster Hunter 3 comes out.
