Scorpion says Mortal Kombat 3 movie starts shooting in September

Mortal Kombat - Image 1This shouldn’t be all too surprising if this turns out to be true. SVG Tribune let slip that a new Mortal Kombat film will start filming by this September. Scorpion, Mortal Kombat - Image 1This shouldn’t be all too surprising if this turns out to be true. SVG Tribune let slip that a new Mortal Kombat film will start filming by this September. Previously owned by Midway Games, who is now officially owned by Warner Bros. following their swift acquisition (due to an absence of contesting bids), it’s not too far-fetched that WB will want to pursue a movie tie-up with the video game franchise.

This information “slipped”, so to speak, when martial artist and stunt actor Chris Casamassa disclosed that he will be reprising his role as Scorpion for the movie “Mortal Kombat 3: Return to Man Island”. Couple that with the recent development of film producer Larry Kasanoff suddenly dropping his lawsuit against Midway over the movie rights of the said franchise and you have the perfect stew brewing for a third MK movie.

Of course, this doesn’t necessarily make it official, but just the same, I’ll be expecting this film to come out by next year, probably. A new game to come along with it too shouldn’t be too bad as well seeing as all these videogame-movie double treats have been so played out the past couple of years.
