Molyneux: Fable II ending brought in hate mail, resulted in adjusted DLC #1
Lionhead Studios‘ Peter Molyneux reportedly got a beating from fans over the ending of Fable II that they were actually forced into rewriting the DLC. Well, of course he wasn’t beaten up literally, only by hate mail, but it’s not quite hard to imagine how strong the sense of urgency must have been for them to shelf their already-written DLC storyline to accommodate the request demand of the fans for a happier ending.

See (and here is the spoiler, in case you haven’t played it), players weren’t all too pleased of having to sacrifice everything at the end of the game. As in everything: your pet, your companion, everyone. It caused “such a furor” that the first DLC they sent out eventually had to make leeway for the dog to be returned. They love their dog.
How hateful was the hate mail? He did not elaborate on that, but the lesson we can all pick up here is that, hey, hating does get things done for you.
