The Xbox Game Room – details and pricing
Microsoft is adding another fun use of those Avatars, and it comes in the form of the Xbox Game Room. Coming this spring, this online game-launching lounge will let you and other Avatars walk into the virtual arcades and play, minus the kids beating each other up in the alley outside.

The Game Room, developed by Krome Studios, is free to download. However, you’ll need a three dollar pass (240 Microsoft Points) to play it on either your Xbox 360 or Windows Live. If you want to play it on both, it’s US$ 5 (400 MSP). But if you want to feel like the good old days dropping quarters – it’s fifty cents a game (40 MSP), so that would be two quarters into the machine. Customization options will be available at launch, but prices for those have yet to be determined.
30 games will be accompanying the Game Room at launch, but over a thousand more will be added along the way from publishers such as Atari, Activision, and Konami. All games will be in 1080p, unlike the chipped glass with stickers you used to look through in the arcades of old.
