Views of Mana: new information on three Chemical Vessels, plus strong dive video
Views of Mana, an approaching action-RPG from Square Enix releases August 29 on PS5 and PS4. With weapons, spells, and a host of great abilities, you can battle hordes of monsters in an action-packed combat system. It’s fast-paced and tests both your reflexes and technique. The Elemental Vessels are at the center of the encounter. These powerful tools, which possess an chemical power, are incredible at preventing conflict by causing style damage while using extraordinary combat skills. What’s more, equipping them to one of the five accessible figures will change the writer’s course, opening up all new possibilities in the heat of fight. In that demonstration, we revealed three of these Chemical Arteries, representing Earth, Light and Darkness. We asked Fantasies of Mana’s manufacturer Masaru Oyamada and chairman Ryosuke Yoshida to share a little bit more about each and the combat system as a whole for this following blog.
Without any prior knowledge required, the group wanted to capture the line’ very distinct identity through the combat, despite the series ‘ intention of launching a new start. But what exactly constitutes a Mana game’s battle?

The Mana activities have featured numerous arms and magic spells for the person to use, as well as entertaining RPG figure growth strategies, since the beginning of the line. Therefore, it was crucial that those elements were conveyed in Views of Mana as well!

That’s what I thought was really significant in the design of Views of Mana. Without the battles not capturing it, the game would have no purpose because it is such a crucial component of the peculiar Mana series identity.
In Fantasies of Mana, we center the war on using the powerful Elemental Vessels, which are powerful weapons infused with chemical magic. These artifacts make use of the Elemental’s abilities to express enigmatic primordial forces, such as burying the foe in waters bubbles or spinning them in the air with breeze blasts.
The person’s behavior give off a fun atmosphere where you feel as though you are interacting with the Elementals as you battle. Additionally, the results that they produce can also be altered.
In Fantasies of Mana, fight is quick and liquid. You’ll include consider lots of different factors, from positioning to the skills you unleash, but you’ll quickly be able to take down adversaries in spectacular fashion. There are a lot of incredible abilities in battle, especially once you start using Elemental Vessels, but the builders first had to make sure the fundamentals of the game were rock strong before they could begin.

When we were thinking about how to design the battle system, we did n’t just look at the combat in isolation. Instead, we made it a principle that strongly correlated with the game’s entire theme.
The use of ring menus and pathway bindings, as well as switching between three group members in a battle, are all inspired by elements from previous Mana games. But, I was very interested in focusing more on how I could switch between various personalities in a battle.
One way we did this, for instance, was through the Elemental Vessels and the game possibilities they offer. You can have three characters as members of your group, each with a unique Elemental Vessel that has various effects. Following up on one of these effects can be accomplished by switching and using a unique chemical power to produce an even stronger substance ability.
In this way, the person switches between various character types in a fight and receives motivation and benefits.
That said, we took care not to make it so critical that switching became universal. To that end, we avoided creating enemies that ca n’t be defeated unless you jump between characters.
The Elemental Vessels are essential to both conflict and routing in the game, as mentioned above. These objects, which the eight elementals give each person over the course of the match, give you new ways to navigate the world and unique abilities to use during fights. This is at the center of the encounter and was the game’s main focus. Obviously, that meant the crew had to make it as enjoyable and interesting as possible.

I thought it was crucial to have a unified feeling throughout the entire game, with a design that ties the exploration and the battles together to the fundamental idea of interfering with the elementals as conscious beings.
The Elemental Vessels are the instruments that give us the ability to almost implement this idea.
Masaru Oyamada
Eight different elementals from The Mana series have always been present, each one of the main forces that influence the world. Each of their rights may be housed in eight vessels, of course. We had a lot of creative ideas for various objects to utilize, but our goal was to create designs that would most effectively get the unique characteristics of each chemical.
In the film, we show three Chemical Vessels: Earth, Light and Darkness. Oyamada and Yoshida, the producers of these vessels, provided some insight into the design of these vessels and the related skills.
Oyamada
The idea for the Vessel of Earth was’ security’. When used, it surrounds the person in a good, rough shield that protects against assaults.
Yoshida
However, it took a small practice to get the right thing! Initially, it created a giant wall of world which may protect the player from attacks. However, we found that summoning a big barrier into the fight area obstructed the team’s eyesight. Plus, enemies attack from multiple angles anyway, so it did n’t really protect them at all. Therefore, we switched the current plan, where the vehicle creates a dome-like protect out of semi-transparent stones!
Oyamada
The idea behind this one was’ mirror’. The player is reference two enemies collectively with rays of light, which reflect the damage done by one enemy to another using the Lumina Lantern!

The concept behind this vehicle was’ gravity’. When the chemical is unleashed, it creates a dark tunnel, which draws in rivals.
Yoshida
Our fight director was sweetly informed that he had a curiosity about what might happen if a nearby lake or river was nearby, and that he had suggested that the water be sucked up alongside the enemies. However, there are n’t many challenge sections which are next to rivers in the first place, and if we were going to do this, it would have created a heap of problems, such as when did the water come back!
So, understandably, we soon abandoned that particular idea ( laughs ).
Equipping an Chemical Vessel to a personality changes their course, giving them new abilities, weapons, and yet outfits. Every vehicle can be made to fit every figure, which allows for a lot of customization for your party.
Yoshida
Along with those of the Elemental Vessels, we created the requirements for the various arms and groups.
We did it because we already knew that combining may be required to prevent the vessels from being able to withstand future conflict.
By the time the ship’s standard effects were in the prototyping stage, we had already decided, and we could concentrate on the ultimate balancing between the classes. By adding special abilities and changing their parameters, we may even make up for any places where a group was less distinct.

Based on the various Chemical Vessel effects and weapons types, we created suggestions for each character’s classes once we had decided there would be eight different elements.
Of course, these also went through changes over growth. For instance, we actually went with more of a succubus-style look for Careena’s darkness-based group, but our figure custom Haccan proposed a great idea which swayed us in a different direction. I believe this turned out great and perfectly exemplifies her upbeat personality as well!
