Apple Store theft: $21,000 in merchandise The Pleasanton Police Department, California, is investigating a theft that occurred at the Apple Store on July 22, 2013. Pleasonton Weekly reported that two suspects entered and stole iPhones, Macs and other merchandise worth $21,000. The report stated that the suspects wore “all black clothing” and black ski masks. College football player charged for video voyeurism following iPad videos A footballer from LSU turned themselves in on July 22, and was charged with Video voyeurism. He allegedly recorded sex with the woman without her consent. The New York Post reported. CBS Sports reported that Javien Toviano had been suspended from the football squad, but by August 1, the case was still “under review”. The woman told police that she found the videos on Toviano’s iPad, but she claimed that he had recorded them with a clock equipped a camera. In Coconut Creek, Fla., a dog bit an iPhone in July. According to the Coconut Creek Talk crime report on July 24, “a K-9 named Lucky ate a black iPhone 15 Pro while it was in an officer’s pockets and destroyed it.” Police in New York City want to find a man wanted for multiple MacBook thefts. They are searching for a male suspect who is suspected of stealing MacBook Air and MacBook Pro computers on two separate occasions during July. According to QNS the first theft happened on July 8 when the man approached a female near Queens Center Mall and grabbed her MacBook Air under her arm. He then fled. On July 10, a thief opened the car door and stole two MacBook Pro devices. Up to $3,500 in rewards is being offered for information that leads to an arrest. There were headlines on July 31 after the Department of Homeland Security arrested a man in Alabama with 180 Apple devices in his car, revealing a multi-state fraud ring. On July 30, in what seemed to be a separate incident, a woman in Oklahoma was stopped for making an incorrect right turn. OKC Fox reported that during the stop, police found counterfeit Apple Watches and iPhones. The woman was charged for traffic violation, CDS and violating the Anti-Counterfeiting Act. Boston: A nine-year old boy’s iPhone was stolen at gunpoint. WCVB reported that a boy of nine had his iPhone taken from him by two teenagers with guns in late July. Two teenagers with guns approached the boy with a friend, and his friend’s mom at a Boston playground. They demanded the boy’s phone and later his password. Two arrested for iPhone theft In another Boston area iPhone theft story, two men have been arrested by the Weymouth police department after stealing an iPhone off the stairs of a local residence. The iPhone had been delivered by FedEx. Newport Dispatch reports that the two men were arrested following video evidence of the thefts. The men were charged with larceny of over $1200 for one of them, and unlicensed operation a motor vehicle for the other. A ping from a stolen Apple Watch led to a man’s arrest after he violated probation. After a Minnesotan woman reported her Apple Watch stolen from her vehicle, a ping came from the device and led police to the home a man on supervised probation. According to Valley News Live the police followed the ping from the Apple Watch to the man’s home, where they found both the Apple Watch and a bong, which they claimed the man used to smoke methamphetamine. The man then resisted and hit his head against a partition inside the police car. He was wearing a heavy bandage on his head in his arrest picture. Man filmed stealing iPhone in Texas A man was caught by surveillance video stealing a 15-inch iPhone from a recycling company in Denton, Tex. According to The Denton Record-Chronicle a man lost his iPhone and returned to find it gone. Officers viewed the surveillance footage and saw another man take the phone. This led to an arrest warrant for him. Indiana woman accused of stealing iPhone at winery In July, an Indiana woman was arrested and charged with stealing a iPhone from a winery in the area. According to Ink Free News the iPhone’s owner set the device on the bar and later discovered it was missing. Surveillance video captured the woman stealing the iPhone and a wallet attached with $200 in cash, credit cards and other items. The woman was charged for theft if the value of the property ranged between $750 and $50,000.
