Ace Attorney 4 will come if Ace Attorney 3 sells, says Matsukawa

Who would’ve thought that graphical novels can actually hit big in the US? Granted that calling a Phoenix Wright game a graphic novel is an understatement, even series producer Minae Matsukawa was surprised after experiencing much success. GayGamer got answers straight from one of the best female producers in the industry.

Much like cult hits, the first Phoenix Wright didn’t have an explosive launch. However, as we all know, it soon went on to become one of the most celebrated titles to grace a handheld. “This very loyal [Phoenix Wright] community has been building up – since itÂ’s been two years I come now and get to meet the fans. Everybody knows it; people love it; itÂ’s very, very gratifying as a producer,” Matsukawa said.

Thanks to the series’ continued success, the US is now anticipating Ace Attorney 3. By what we hear, this third entry to the DS is sure to woo the  fans. Thing is, it’s also what will determine if Ace Attorney 4 will ever see release outside its homeland.

Gyakuten Saiban 4
sold more than 500,000 copies in Japan in one week, but the west isn’t exactly like-minded. Asked if number four will reach the states, Matsukawa answered:

Yes, we would like to very much, and weÂ’re working to make sure that happens. But itÂ’s kind of pointless if number three doesnÂ’t do very well, so we want to make sure people know about that, buy it, and tell their friends!

Got that? We can’t stress it enough – grab Ace Attorney 3, tell your friends about it, and pray that your efforts are enough to get Ace Attorney 4 on shelves.
