Activision gets rights to ride Unreal Engine 3
Activision has just announced in a recent release that they have acquired the license to use Epic Games‘ middleware program, the popular Unreal Engine 3. Meanwhile, Activision continues to tease the gaming community by stating in their release that the engine will be used “for an upcoming as-yet-unannounced action game”. Talk about showbiz.
Anyway, Activision’s head of production Laird Malamed seems pleased with the whole thing, as he says that the Unreal Engine is “a perfect fit for our upcoming action game”. He also states his belief that making use of this middleware solution will allow their devs to “deliver what is sure to be an amazing game experience”. Well, we’re excited, and we’re hoping that we can hold you to that, boys.
In the meantime, we can probably start trying to guess just what this new action game up Activision’s sleeve is going to be, and what console it’s going to be for. Well, to start with, at least we can be sure that it won’t be for the Wii…
