Activision plays hard-to-get on Guitar Hero Wii issue

Just a short while ago, Activision‘s CEO Mike Griffith made a statement in a conference call which states that, “In fiscal 2008, we will double our offerings on the DS and the Wii, including Spider-Man, Shrek, Transformers, and Guitar Hero.” Considering that those words came from the head honcho himself, it would have been difficult to doubt them at the time, so off we went, dreaming of wireless guitar controllers for Guitar Hero Wii.

But then again, just when you thought that companies were actually starting to speak in English instead of corporate-ese, it turns out that this isn’t the case. In fact, a spokesperson from Activision has recently issued another statement… which neither denies nor confirms the existence of the highly-desired port of Guitar Hero to Nintendo’s console.

The spokesperson has been quoted to say that, in reference to Griffith’s statement, “From my specific knowledge, and I’m not talking about Guitar Hero here, there are some surprises hidden within that phrase and things that people will probably interpret incorrectly”.

Great. Hidden surprises and phrases that need to be interpreted correctly. Oooh. Cryptic, coy, enigmatic, or just downright confusing? We’d make another stab at a Da Vinci Code pun, but no. In the meantime, we’re also considering the possibility of having misinterpreted Griffith’s quoted statement, but the only other thing that we can derive from his words would be Guitar Hero for the DS… the very concept of which, just seems wrong, by the way.
