There’s certainly something to be said about Atari‘s revival of the Alone in the Dark series, and in this latest gameplay trailer video of Alone in the Dark 5 (PS3, PS2, PC, Xbox 360, Wii), the words may come out jumbled between praises of joy to screams of pure terror. Yes, it’s that scary, and yes, it’s that awesome. It’s Alone in the Dark like you’ve never seen – or played – before.

Looking at the video, the new item-based combat system is definitely working out for the game. Sure, other games will let us bash a monster or two with a lead pipe, but where else can we throw a can of flammable liquid and ignite it with a well-placed shot just before it plonks on a baddie?
