American McGee’s Grimm announced, joins GameTap Originals

Just earlier today, GameTap of the Turner Broadcasting Network has officially announced the addition of a new original title by American McGee to its GameTap Originals line up of games. American McGee, famous for his twisted rendering of the “Alice in Wonderland” fairy tale with American McGee’s Alice, will be introducing a new game based on similarly twisted fairy tales.

The new title, called American McGee’s Grimm, will sport episodic content covering many of the world’s well-known fairy tales. The series will be walking fans of the franchise through 24 different episodes, which some have been named to be “Snow White”, “Rapunzel”, “Rumpelstiltskin”, and “Little Red Riding Hood.”

American McGee’s Grimm has been pegged to become an action-adventure game driven by a twisted story, encompassing all the characters with unique and vivid depth. Fans can expect the original exploration and quest mechanics to make a comeback, while using a combat concept that revolves around the notion that “words are weapons.”

Each episode is going to be tailored to climax at a cliffhanger twist, encouraging gamers to anticipate the next episode to come for the series. “My interpretation of these classic fables will provide gamers with an entertaining and interactive way of experiencing how the stories were originally meant to unfold,” said American McGee.

“American McGee is one of the best known and most dynamic developers in the industry today and Grimm is the perfect fit with our GameTap Originals brand,” commented GameTap’s VP of content Ricardo Sanchez. According to the official press release, the game will be debuting on GameTap Originals by Spring 2008 on the PC.
