Apple applies for iTunes Live Trademark

It seems that rumors from a few weeks ago were true – Apple did have something in store for when they had acquired Lala, the online music service. It seems that Apple now wants to jump on the music streaming bandwagon as well, and have applied for a new trademark with the iTunes name. More details after the jump.

It seems that rumors from a few weeks ago were true – Apple did have something in store for when they had acquired Lala, the online music service. It seems that Apple now wants to jump on the music streaming bandwagon as well, and have applied for a new trademark with the iTunes name.

Apple has filed the trademark applications under two different classes:

  • Intl. Class 035: Online retail store services in the field of entertainment featuring prerecorded musical, audio and audiovisual content
  • Intl. Class 041: Entertainment services, namely, arranging and conducting of concerts and live musical performances

In layman’s terms, we could very well see Apple streaming media like music and movies to a computer near you, or even your iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch. What’s even more interesting and juicy is that live content could be coming to an iTunes enabled device, which means that you’ll never have to miss a live performance. Can they pull it off? I guess only time will tell – but for now, stay here with us at QJ and we’ll keep you posted.
