Australian reader spotted a red Wii at GAME1?
One of the Aussie-Nintendo (A-N) readers attended the GAME1 event in Melbourne. The A-N article was entitled “Red Wii and Wii Sports presentation at GAME1” – and this got us excited because we thought it would be a completely red Wii. But it wasn’t. It was only this red-faced box:
You remember the developer units with the green face-plates, right? We thought this was a similar thing. One of the commenters even wondered if it was a “debug unit”. So it wasn’t really that big a deal, and we moved on and didn’t write about it.
What is it? Then it turns out one of the A-N readers came along and explained what the red faced Wii was:
After speaking to him [Stewart] and examining the pictures in detail I discovered that the red faced Wiis contain hard drives inside, and that they seem to be connected to the normal Wii units that were on display. Well the Zelda one at least.
But the question remains. When! When! When are we going to get other colors? White is nice: a lot of us here agree that the Wii looks great – sweet, cute, sexy. But, as you can see about three minutes into this video we posted over a month ago of a Perrin Kaplan interview, the red Wii looks hot. We remind you again of what Perrin said – if she says Nintendo is looking into other colors, then maybe they really are, but we’ll all have to wait.
