BlackSite: Area 51 for the PS3 release delayed

For those of us itching to gun down an alien or two in BlackSite: Area 51(PS3, Xbox 360, PC), here’s a bit of bad news: the PlayStation 3 version of the game will be coming out approximately three weeks after the Xbox 360 and PC versions have been rolled out into stores. Yes, dear readers, another game for the Sony PS3 from Midway Games has been delayed.

The exact reason for the release’s delay wasn’t pinned down, but Midway CEO David Zucker attributed the three-week release date push back to the use of the Unreal 3 engine which is also used on other Midway titles such as Stranglehold and Unreal Tournament 3. It’s also something to note that both Stranglehold and Unreal Tournament 3 have also been recently hit with the delay stick. Yes, only their PS3 versions.

While it’s certainly disappointing that three absolutely fantastic-looking games from Midway Games will now be arriving later than expected, it’s also glad to know that it’s not due to some crippling error or bug that needs to be remedied. Here’s hoping that there will be no more delays after this.
