Blizzard cautions players about upgrading backpacks
In World of Warcraft, each player possesses backpacks. These are storage containers for carrying items that everyone gets at the beginning of the game. Initially, backpacks are able to hold sixteen items all in all. (But you already know that, right?)
With the release of The Burning Crusade, fans have been wondering if the total number of slots will eventually be increased by Blizzard. Actually, custom-made containers can be obtained from tailors. From what we’ve heard, a level 60 character can upgrade the backpack to have 18 slots for 10 to 15 golds.
A level 70 player, likewise, can have 20 slot-packs for 25 to 30 golds. However, Blizzard employee Ommra has some warnings for players about this:
Allowing the backpack to be upgraded or otherwise just increased is always a possibility, but not something we’re planning to do just yet. We need to take into account physical storage space on the realms for each character, and an increase of the default backpack size could definitely have a profound impact.
Just like we’ve increased bank storage and bank bag slots we’re certainly keeping the backpack in mind for possibilities of future storage increases.
It’s good to hear that Blizzard has plans about this. If it pushes through, players will be able to divert their gold spending on other items instead of mere pack upgrades. In the meantime, if you have the gold, increase the capacity of your packs by all means. To those who are poorer, we guess you’ll have to make do for a little while longer.
