If you picked up a copy of Borderlands for the PS3 hoping to get some co-op time with your friends, you may have to wait a while. Early purchasers have reported that the game’s co-op mode is a mess.
According to a Fall Damage report, issues include “friends not showing up in the in-game friends list, 30 minute freezes when opening the online public game list, and lag-filled experiences if they do manage to connect.”
It’s one heck of a stumbling block, but PS3 gamers can take a bit of solace in the fact that developer Gearbox Software is aware of the issue and is working on a fix. Here’s what Gearbox dev Vatoloco posted on the Gearbox forums:
We’ve identified the problem and are working on a fix.
Believe it or not, the friends feature was heavily tested by Gearbox and 2K. However, this particular issue we found could have never manifested itself in our or 2K’s test environments.
WeÂ’ll find out very soon if the issue exists for the PS3 International versions of the Borderlands. If it does, weÂ’ll hopefully have a fix implemented before it affects those customers.
To those who haven’t bought a copy yet, you may want to hold off until Gearbox sorts this out.
