Burning Crusade burns down day one sales record

Burning Crusade - Image 1The recent troubles of Blizzard Entertainment with The Burning Crusade didn’t stop this WoW expansion from being welcomed warmly by anticipating fans. It is no secret that the game has been dominating the sales charts right from day one but ever wondered what’s the real figure?

Blizzard announced today that BC just broke day one sales both for Europe and North America, meaning total sales for the expansion has more than doubled. All in all, the company has provided a total number of 4 million game boxes to retailers worldwide on launch day. Total sales in Europe were estimated at around 1.1 million copies while it was 1.2 million for N. America. Their system also recorded that of all these, 1.7 million logged in and upgraded just before day one ended.

The company’s president and co-founder Mike Morhaime is more than happy with these results.

The Burning Crusade has already exceeded even our most ambitious expectations. We’re pleased that so many players are eager to see all of the new content that the expansion has to offer, and we look forward to seeing everyone online as additional players continue to upgrade in the days ahead.

Finally, Blizzard assures fans that despite these overwhelming demands, the supply for the game is stable and there is no risk of them getting out of stock. Hmm, we hope we could say the same for in-game monsters’ drop loots.
