Button optimization in World of Warcraft

Button optimization in World of Warcraft - Image 1

If your character uses a lot of skills or spells in World of Warcraft, you can expect that when you hit level 70 the screen will be cluttered with many buttons. The question is now posed: How does one optimize the hot keys to ensure minimum clutter on the screen as one plays the game?

A poster named Illai on the WoW Europe forums dished out some very good tips to address this. According to Illai, most of the healing spells were keybound to the numpad while deciding between various types of spells were handled though modifier keys (*###/control/alt). You could also follow Blizzard Poster/ Forum Moderator Aeus suggestion of using qUserKey. It’s a mod which lets players bind hotkeys to spells and macros without the need to have them on a bar.

Another method you can try is to trim down the skills you’ve been using. Just select the most efficient ones that are used in special cases and assign a button to it. Be sure to keybind the more common skills you use to ensure that they will always easily accessible.
