Can we see the likes of an Xbox portable soon?
According to author Dean Takahashi, Microsoft split the Xbox Dev team into two, so as to develop a portable gaming unit to compete with the likes of Nintendo DS and Sony PSP. The team was split just after release, so as to focus on a new portable unit, and the other half to focus on lowering Xbox 360 costs, and developing newer technology for it. The author in his new book ‘The Xbox 360 Uncloaked’, Takahashi also talks about the release of such a unit halfway through the life cycle of the Xbox, similar to the strategy used by Sony for the PS2 and PSP. Some rumours are already around, due to small mistakes by Microsoft, such as the video of Halo 2 on the Origami Promo Video, and other such releases. If true, it seems Microsoft will be going all out to compete with the might of Sony and Nintendo for more consumer market share.
