Capcom discusses PlayStation Store plans, Resident Evil in the pipeline

After Sony awarded Capcom with their very own section in the PlayStation Network, Capcom’s been in a bit of a mad dash to get some content up on the Capcom Store.
Already, we hear that they’re going to have a Classics lineup to release as DLC. This will cover some PlayStation games from Capcom. (If you remember from yesterday, SF Alpha 2 and 3 were already listed by the ESRB!) But what other titles can we expect?
In an “Ask Capcom” thread in Capcom’s own website, Corporate Officer and VP of business development Christian Svensson revealed quite a few interesting details about their plans for the Capcom PSN Store.
Firstly, he said that they’re aiming to deliver some choice PSP titles as DLC on the Store (kinda like what D3Publisher is doing). The only thing confirmed right now though is a demo of Harvey Birdman. More interestingly, Svensson reveals that they’re going to have some new (i.e. unannounced) content up on the Store come 2009.
On the subject of their PlayStation Classics lineup, someone asked if they’ll finally release Resident Evil over the PSN. After all, Japan’s already got RE2 online. Here’s Svensson’s reply:
We have a lot of work to do on the PS1 side of things still. I hope to bump that up the priority list of “things to do” after HD Remix is out the door. There’s a lot of internal issues to work out to get that rolling properly.
Ok, Capcom. I’m crossing my fingers! Make it happen! Make it happen! If we’re never getting a new Resident Evil title exclusive to the PSP, then having the three PSone RE games would still make me a happy camper.
