One of the biggest changes in Persona 3 Portable is the addition of a female main character who you can start the game with. The choice to play as a guy is still there, and both characters will give you a different view of how things unfold.

Choosing to play as a girl will also result in a slightly different menu and background. Atlus is also teasing a new male character in the Velvet Room who seems to be specific for the female main character’s scenarios.

Other changes include some graphics updates, new BGM, and a pair of new difficulty settings called “Beginner” and “Maniacs.” Traversing Persona 3‘s game world has also been made easier by the addition of menu where you can click on locations you want to go to. There’s also a new “Direct Command” option for battles.

Finally, here’s the opening movie for Persona 3 Portable. The game will be out in Japan on November 1. Incidentally, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona will be released in North America this September, so please please please buy that game so we can convince Atlus to bring Persona 3 Portable over as well.
