Capcom renames Project Treasure Island Z
When we first heard the Wii game Project Treasure Island Z by Capcom, three things came to mind: The famed novel by Robert Louis Stevenson (more famous as “Muppet Treasure Island”), Go Nagai’s legendary Mazinger Z mecha (the subject of several anime remixes and Super Robot Wars cameos), and Prinnies (Pringer X!!!).
We imagine the company’s devs were thinking the same thing with the name, which is probably why they’ve just announced via press wire that Project Treasure Island Z has been renamed to Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure. While we know who Zack (the protagonist) and Barbaros (the legendary pirate) are, we don’t have any data on who Wiki is.
For the moment, we know that Zack is a treasure hunter who has uncovered the skull of Barbaros, a legendary (and very dead) pirate who’s kept the world’s treasure hidden away in a mysterious island. Barbaros has promised the young Zack that if he can help him break his curse, he will give the boy the key to this treasure.
The game is currently categorized as a puzzle adventure, with players using the Wii console’s Wiimote for a variety of functions as they play through. Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure is currently expected hit landfall in North America this fall 2007, at an expected retail price of US$ 39.95. Though, once again, who in thunderation is Wiki?
