Capcom to ramp up European marketing for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
If you managed to catch the video that Gino posted earlier, you’ll know that Capcom‘s finally getting serious on promoting the Monster Hunter series outside Japan, beginning with Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Capcom’s Ryozo Tsujimoto recently acknowledged to MCV that the lack of promotion for the series has been a bit of a problem of theirs, especially in Europe. That’s why this time they’re going all out to establish the brand in the UK.

Capcom’s Ryozo Tsujimoto recently acknowledged to MCV that the lack of promotion for the series has been a bit of a problem of theirs, especially in Europe. That’s why this time they’re going all out to establish the brand in the UK. Tsujimoto didn’t really go deep into the details of their promotion campaign, but he did give MCV a brief outline:
Currently in Europe the Monster Hunter franchise has been fairly quiet, so the first step is to actually get the game noticed. No one here knows what the game is so we just need to spread the name of Monster Hunter.
The next step will be to explain and convey the information on what the game actually is. Then we want to let people play the game and experience it for themselves. Finally, we need to maintain support for the community, to keep people coming together playing the game. ItÂ’s very important for Capcom to strategically plot this path.
That second step’s always been the tricky part for me. I’ve been hooked on this series ever since the first PSP game, but until now whenever I try to tell my friends about it all I can say is “There are monsters and you hunt them and IT IS AWESOME”. Hopefully Capcom’s efforts bear fruit and bring more new hunters into the fandom.
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is currently tracking a June release. Capcom’s promised a little surprise for PSP gamers during that month, so be on the lookout for it. Also, the boxart is made of win.
