Capucine announced for the Wii
Light and shadow – one of the oldest duality concepts we’ve seen in many a movie, novel, manga, and of course, video game. But while this archetype has been around as far back as we can remember (and beyond), there’s always going to be somebody out there ready to add their own spin to the theme.
Enter Capucine, an up-and-coming game for the Wii console by the French NoCulture Team. The game revolves around the story of Capucine, an eight-year-old girl who finds herself in a dead fantasy world perpetually covered in shadows. Players must then take control of Capucine, and use her right hand to cast a ray of light on their surroundings, slowly revitalizing the world as move along the countryside. If it sounds like a retake on titles like Okami, Spirited Away, or even LoTR, don’t be too surprised.
And while details are still sketchy, we do know that Capucine features a novel encounter system: any shadows that are created while using Capucine‘s ray of light will become your enemy; once again, the light-and-shadow duality conflict comes to mind. That’s all the info we’ve got for the moment, along with several in-game screenshots, and the French trailer video. Enjoy these until we get our hands on more details.
