CB2: Japan’s new realistic humanoid robot
We’re probably centuries away from seeing mobile suits, gundams, ACs, metal gears and all those cool robots, but having humanoids running around a few years from now is very feasible. Just a few days back, Japan Science and Technology Agency revealed Astro Boy a robot boy with some basic human functions.
Affectionately named CB2 (Child-Robot with Biometric Body), this adorable boy weighing in at 33kg is supposed to be a 1-2 year old toddler. “He” can make realistic facial expressions, move his limbs, react to his environment with eye movement, and even blink. The young kid can stand, too, if someone helps him out.
Don’t you just want to hug him? Wish he was your baby brother? No? Well, he’s far from perfect but it’s not difficult to think Japan would improve on him and mass produce an army in the near future.
