CD Projekt RED: No need to worry about restrictive DRM in The Witcher 2
Namco Bandai likes Ubisoft’s new DRM scheme. They also happen to be publishing CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings in Europe and Asia. So, do The Witcher fans have anything to worry about when it comes to the DRM front? CD Projekt RED says, “No.”
Namco Bandai likes Ubisoft’s new DRM scheme. They also happen to be publishing CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 2 in Europe and Asia. So, do The Witcher fans have anything to worry about when it comes to the DRM front? CD Projekt RED says, “No.”
“Our distributors commented the Ubisoft-like DRM securilty solutions, and we’re receiving a massive feedback about applying such in The Witcher 2,” the company posted on their Facebook page.
“There’s nothing to worry about, as nothing is decided yet. And still, it’s a private opinion. You know Cd Projekt RED’s opinion about DRM, right? ;-)”
In response to some concerns from fans, the company further stated on Twitter that there’s no need to worry about The Witcher 2 requiring a constant internet connection for online play or if it would only store saves online.
CD Projekt RED has long been a proponent of giving gamers “exceptional quality and additional values” rather than punishing them with restrictive DRM practices.
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is set for launch next year.
