Commemorative Interview of Ninety Nine Nights Creator in Famitsu
April 20 is the date for Ninety Nine Nights’ release in Japan. With the game’s release just few sleeps away, Famitsu had a chit chat with N3’s Director Yun Lee San. In this interview, Famitsu talked some concerns about the game. This was a game that took a lot of buzz because of the inter-racial issues that concern the game. This is a collaboration between a Japanese game developer and a korean game director. For years the Koreans have a long-standing issue with Japan’s wartime follies. Hence, to see Japanese and Koreans working together was far reality until fairly recently. Famitsu cannot help but ask Yun Lee San on what this game means for future Japanese and Korean relations. San expressed that nationality was out of the question when they were making the game. The most important thing was one’s determination and passion to make the game. He did point however that in some respects the Japanese love their games to ba little more fun while Korean love things complicated.
Questions about the development of N3 was also asked. The first challenge of the game was to shorten the game development in half. Other games took 30 months, hence when the Japanese developers asked him to reduce the game development in half, San considered it as a challenge. Famitsu also asked if the quality of the game was reduced. San definitely agreed that there were comprimises made for the game however this did not deteriorate the quality of the game. San and his team experienced hardships for the development of the game but things were well worth it once the game was finally finished.
Famitsu and Yun Lee San talked a lot of other things in the article. From favorite characters to the other animation projects conducted by the Korean animation office (such sa Jet Li’s Hero), the article definitely profiled Yun Lee San and the team behind Ninety Nine Nights.
As a final word, Yun Lee San gave a reminder to the people who are anticipating N3. He said the game will be refreshing for gamers as it brings you to an entirely new world for you to explore, taking you away from time and reality.
