PlayStation 3 developers will get a nice boon to their projects come October when CRI releases the version of its FileMajik middleware for the platform. The technology is widely used to decrease load times in gaming software throughout the industry.
Licensed PS3 developers will be able to acquire the software free of charge. FileMajik works by optimizing disk mapping to diminish seek times. It also has a special method of compressing and expanding files which enable it to run the said processes significantly faster than conventional means.
FileMajik has been open for use on the Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, PS2, and PC for quite a while now. Here’s hoping it raises the quality of PS3 titles even more.
