Dark Sector gameplay video plus developer commentary

IGN has uploaded a pair of new Dark Sector videos, and we’ve got them here today for your viewing pleasure. Both videos feature the same footage, but Steve Sinclair, project lead for Digital Extremes and D3Publisher‘s Dark Sector, provides a running commentary on the second vid.

The video consists mostly of recently-mutated Hayden Tenno just walking around killing stuff. According to Sinclair, everybody in Dark Sector pegs Hayden as an enemy – humans think he’s a monster, monsters think he’s human – which is a very convenient setup for Hayden’s “kill everything that moves” ideology. Heck, you’d be pissed off too if you just woke up to find you’ve mutated. Cool glaive, though.

Sinclair also talks a bit about some of the game’s new features, like the special finishing moves. Apparently, flanking or surprising an enemy causes you to perform a cool finishing move. These moves will also change depending on what kind of enemy you’re up against. The game’s first boss also appears near the tail end of the vid, and Sinclair reveals that Hayden’s next evolution will occur after players dispatch the first boss.

Check out the first video below. The one with the running commentary is behind the jump.

Developer commentary after the jump!
