Dark_Alex SE-B Overclocking Module updated

PSP

If you liked the sound of Cpasjuste‘s Dark_Alex SE-B Overclocking module 01, which was originally released yesterday, then you’ll love this. Version 01 of the module that allows you to overclock your PSP whilst using Dark_Alex’s SE-B or SE-B’ custom firmwares was a little limited, with all games playing at 333mhz with no option to change it, giving your battery a bit of a drain and not allowing you to play games via WiFi.

Today, Cpasjuste releases version 02 of his SE-B overclocking module which expands on the abilities of version 01 by giving you the choice of clocking your PSP to 333Mhz, 300Mhz or 111Mhz. Why? Here’s a run-down of what each setting allows you to do:

  • 333 Mhz (Fast but no Wi-Fi in games)
  • 300 Mhz (Fast with Wi-Fi working in games)
  • 111 Mhz (Slow but saves battery life)

Also, a little side note for users planning to clock their PSPs at 111Mhz: You may find that games are unplayable or simply won’t run with your PSP set at such a clock speed, so be careful. We do not advise you to flash your PSP to set the clock speed lower than the standard 222Mhz speed the PSP’s CPU runs at already. Remember, the XMB will still run at 222Mhz when you use this module for safety purposes.

Cpasjuste’s overclocking module 02 also gives you the option to uninstall the module safely, which version 01 didn’t allow you to do. But remember, this module does flash your PSP, so be vigilant. Remember the rules of flashing: make sure your PSP has ample battery life, take out any UMD, and if you want to be really careful, plug in the AC Adaptor. When you use this application, a module is flashed to flash0 (oc.prx) and a “pspbtcnf_game.txt” file is updated to take care of this. Only UMD or ISO games should use this module since it’s launched with the 2.71 firmwares files, homebrew that uses 1.50 modules should not use it.
