Date For Australian eGames & Entertainment Expo Confirmed

Australian gamers, spread the word!

Details for the eGames & Entertainment Expo have already been announced, so start clearing out your schedules. The day to mark down on your calendar would be November 17 to 19, and the place to go to would be the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, so take note, save up, gear up and get ready!

For this year’s expo, the organizers have decided to divide the exhibition hall into various areas. The eSport zone will allow attendees to go head-to-head with Team Immunity who is one of Australia‘s top eSports teams and the number one CounterStrike team in that continent. Meanwhile, people in the Podium Zone can try out the latest consoles from Microsoft and Nintendo (Sony is yet to confirm their attendance), while those in the Handheld Cafe can challenge others on their Nintendo DS or Sony PSP while having a bite to eat. There will also be a section for classic arcade games as well as a display which will feature the history of electronic games.

Tickets will be sold for AU$16 for adults and AU$13 Concession with family, while 2-day passes will also be available.

The list of activities that can be found in the Expo’s official site includes the following, so far:

  • Go into the running for the major door prize plus more prize give aways
  • Interactive game lounges – stay and play – experience the new-gen consoles.
  • Play-off head to head at one of the podiums – winner stays on.
  • Bring your handheld wireless gaming device along to connect and play against other players in the handheld cafe
  • A chance to challenge some of AustraliaÂ’s best eSport players in the eSport Zone
  • Some of the best case modders from the FusionLan 500 player event next door will play off in a PC build-off comp with the winner taking home the PC – judged by the editor of Atomic mag.
  • Launch of a major mobile game league
  • Help a worthy charity, the Bonnie Babes Foundation, and bid for a great product in the Charity Auction including 4 State-of-the-Art PCs and loads more.
  • Vote for your favourite game at the AVGA voting booths.
  • Register your interest to join an eSport League and show your skill.
  • Ask a question to the expert industry panel during Q&A
  • Watch the finals of lead up comps from FusionLan and other lead up comps in the eSport Zone
  • Lose yourself in the 3D immersive room and play inside the game.
  • Find out if a career in game development and new media is for you in the Careers in Game Development Zone
  • See the winning entries from the Modding Competition including game maps, 3D models and more.
  • Try first, then buy products you have seen at the expo in our Buy Zone. Lots of great products will be available.
