Disaster: Day in Crisis single screenshot says a lot

Yes. It’s just one. While Jeux France says it was leaked, this same image was shown in the January issue of Nintendo Power. Which pretty much shows how much of a “top secret” title Disaster: Day of Crisis is for Nintendo. Game designer legend Shigeru Miyamoto, honored for his lifetime achievements, is also claimed to be personally involved in the game’s development. Talk about trying to keep a low profile, huh?

The game is also rumored to come with a new Wii gadget. No, it’s not the Pongle; it’s the HMD or Helmet Mount Display. While the name could use some work, the device itself is slated to immerse the player in the environment, allowing the player to feel as if he’s surrounded by danger. Think of the device as a VX-1 Headgear or the Virtual Game Boy VR visors.

The game, in development under Monolith Soft, was claimed a couple of months back as to be “reaching its climax.” No kidding. Looking at the screenshot, we think the game is already in the playable stages. If they need a helping hand in testing it, hey, we’re always here to help!

So what do we know about the game? All we can say is that the game sports Ray, a former member of an elite rescue squad, who not only tries to escape volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and tsunamis, but must also face a radical group of people who decide they could use the catastrophes to steal a nuclear weapon.

The game is slated to be one of the Wii games to turn the Wii wand into an actual gun. Players will be running, shooting, driving, and trying to survive the natural disasters occurring around them. And it looks like there’s a time limit, too.
