dTunes: free homebrew alternative for iTunes
Homebrew developer Richard Shearman has combined the very useful Safari Download Plugin and SeeQPod’s streaming MP3 services to come up with a free alternative to iTunes: dTunes. With dTunes, you can now look for a song on SeeQPod and choose to download it as an MP3 and then play it back using only one app.
Homebrew developer Richard Shearman has combined the very useful Safari Download Plugin and SeeQPod’s streaming MP3 services to come up with a free alternative to iTunes: dTunes.
Using it’s pretty easy. After installing, just fire it up and tap the magnifying glass button or the SeeQPod button to search for a song. Once you find the song you want, you can choose to download it as an MP3. You can then play it back using dTunes’ built-in media player.
dTunes also works with 3G and EDGE. To download, just look for it on the ModMyiFone repository on Cydia. It’s under the multimedia category.
