Nothing’s solid yet. Right now, Faye is working with 3D Realms’ Scott Miller to develop a scenario for the movie, so they don’t just go into it half-cocked:
I’m working diligently at making a Duke Nukem movie scenario that will live up to the character and its import in the videogame world. As is the case with all of my game adaptations, I’d rather not make the movie than make a poor adaptation.
With the two new games coming out based on Duke Nukem, I’m working at establishing a Duke film scenario that will compel a studio to finance a feature version. Certainly, there’s a large audience that knows and loves this character.
For those who are worried for Duke Nukem’s future, read up on Faye’s thoughts on the movie adaptation below, perhaps it may ease your fears. Or you can just wait for the Max Payne movie and see if he did that justice.
We’re expanding Duke‘s ‘storyverseÂ’ in a very significant major way without abandoning or negating any element that’s being used to introduce Duke to the next gen platforms.
[…] Why go out of your way to acquire an IP is you’re not going to use as much of it as you can in the adaptation process? Of course, a game is a game and a film is a film, and decisions need to be made, as is the case in any adaptation. But itÂ’s important to be true to the source material.
Considering how long it took for the Max Payne movie to come together though, we may have to wait a while to see how he’ll proceed with Duke Nukem. He is also currently working on the movie adaptation for American McGee’s Alice.
